Daueraufenthalt EG (Also known as Council Directive 2003/109/EC)
This directive allows a long term resident to work in other EU countries as well (with some exceptions, UK, Ireland and Denmark). Effectively, you are an EU permanent resident.
Although the law has not been implemented into German law yet, some German states have issued preliminary implementation guidelines:
COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 2003/109/EC of 25 November 2003 concerning the status of third-country nationals who are long-term residents.
What documents are required for applying for Daueraufenthalt-EG ?
The last 3 salary slips
Letter from employer
life long or automatically renewing health insurance
Proof for the pension paid (for atleast 60 months)
Mietvertrag oder Grundbuchauszug. (House/Appartment rental agreement)
Basic knowledge of German (verbal)
no entry in the police records

What benefits do I get compared to NE ?
D-EG is similar to NE but not limited to just Germany.
The major differences of NE and D-EG:
NE

No need for 60 months pension payment
Could stay and work in German permanently
Becomes invalid if you leave germany for more than 6 consecutive months
D-EG
Should have stayed in Germany for atleast 60 consecutive months
60 months pension payment is required
Could stay and work in Europe (with exceptions to some countries) permanently
Becomes invalid if you leave European Union for more than 12 consecutive months
